Hertha Berlin will be without John Brooks for another crucial match.

Hertha manager Pal Dardai says the U.S. Men’s National Team defender will be out yet again for Friday’s clash with last-place Hannover. Brooks recently missed the German Bundesliga club’s 5-0 defeat at Borussia Monchengladbach over the weekend due to a knee injury.

The defender has recently been working with fitness coach Hendrik Vieth, who said Brooks could potentially join training on Thursday. Brooks is expected to be back in time for Hertha’s clash with Hoffenheim on April 16.

“Jay was playing really well recently,” Dardai said according to Kicker, “but we did not lose 5-0 at Gladbach because he wasn’t playing.”

“If all goes well, he is back again for Hoffenheim,” Dardai added.

Brooks recently traveled to the U.S. to join the USMNT despite previously picking up a knee injury against Ingolstadt. The defender did not feature in the first Guatemala match before departing the team for Berlin prior to the second clash in Columbus, Ohio.

Hertha is currently in third place in the Bundesliga with a three-point lead on Monchengladbach and Bayer Leverkusen heading into the final six matches of the campaign.

What do you think of Brooks’ injury? Any concerns? Will the club qualify for the UEFA Champions League?
