Alejandro Bedoya returned to scoring form in France this weekend, while a couple of American right backs helped their teams earn crucial points in avoiding relegation.
Bedoya put away a fine goal in league play with Nantes on Saturday, his first since a dramatic late winner in a domestic cup match in February. The attacking midfielder controlled a bouncing ball despite a drenched playing surface, and blasted in a shot to the near post.
DeAndre Yedlin continued what has been an important growing season with Sunderland, putting in another 90 minute shift as the team defeated Chelsea 3-2. Sunderland now sits out of the drop zone, a point above Newcastle United with a game in hand.
Elsewhere, Timmy Chandler returned to the field for Eintracht Frankfurt. The German side was able to rise to the occasion and upset Borussia Dortmund with relegation looming. Frankfurt similary sits one point out of the drop zone above Werder Bremen, with just one match to be played by each team.
