Hertha Berlin wasn’t pleased with his decision to participate in the Copa America Centenario this summer, but John Brooks’ play with the U.S. Men’s National Team has earned him praise from the German club.

The 23-year-old centerback has made waves this summer, not only within U.S. circles but around the tournament, because of his solid play at the heart of the American defense. According to BZ, Brooks would command a transfer fee of $22.63 million (€20 million) should he move on from Hertha Berlin, with the report citing the Premier League as a possible destination.

With Brooks under contract at Hertha until 2019, the club remains adamant that they want to keep their budding star, however, his continued ascent may prompt him to move elsewhere.

“No! He has long-term contract here, and we are delighted if he continues to play such a good tournament,” Hertha sporting director Michael Preetz told BZ.

Brooks has started all four of the USMNT’s matches at the Copa America, including their most recent 2-1 win in the quarterfinals against Ecuador.
