Pal Dardai has long been critical of John Brooks’ international travel schedule, and it appears that the Hertha Belin boss is ready to take put new measures in place following an unsatisfactory return to the club game.
Dardai says that he will now consider resting Brooks after each international break, citing the U.S. Men’s National Team’s travel schedule as a major negative for the centerback’s game. After starting each of the USMNT’s two World Cup qualifiers, Brooks returned to the Hertha lineup in the weekend’s 0-0 draw with Aubsburg but did not impress his club coach.
“I think I have to think better about him next time,” Dardai said. “He has such a long journey and does not train with us. If you are so tall and travel so much, that is not good for him, and he did not look good out there.”
Brooks played the full 90 minutes in the shutout draw. The U.S. defender has started seven matches this season for Hertha Berlin, which sits sixth in the Bundesliga table.
